"THE proud bag"
On the 14th of September 2019, our Auckland team hosted Gig4giving - a jazz and blues fund-raiser musical performance for our new project that we have just launched - The Proud Bag. This project is driven towards helping migrants in Auckland by providing them free groceries and toiletries.
Being migrants ourselves, we know how difficult it is to leave everything behind and start a new life in a foreign land. Thankfully our team is well-settled now and call New Zealand our new home. We decided to give back to the community by giving away free groceries to Auckland migrants who are starting their own journey. We understand the challenges when we move out of our comfort zones, since we can't help with their visa, and don't have enough money to give them accommodation or a job... we are hoping that through our simple gesture we can give them a break from worrying “What am I going to eat today” and be able to focus on their other important affairs.
The volunteers behind this project are queer and gender diverse Filipinos who are intending to stay in New Zealand for good. We believe that everyone needs to be valued and has the capacity to make a difference in the world regardless of their race, skin colour, religion, sexual orientation and gender identity or expression. We believe that a single action can make a huge dent in the community, and that collective action can greatly impact the world. With your generous support, we can help more people.
Big or small, your donation will be greatly appreciated and will go towards The Proud Bag and reinvested to the next project to support our mission.
Our target beneficiaries are:
Migrants in need (who don't hold resident or permanent resident visa and are not citizen)
and currently living in Auckland
If you think "The Proud Bag" can help you please answer this request form or if you know someone who can benefit from this project, please let us know. Once we receive the answered form, our team member will be in touch with you within 1-3 business day(s) to arrange the grocery delivery dates etc. Please note that we are not affiliated with any Immigration channels and we don't have a power to do background checks - whatever you say to us, we will take it as is.
